We’re asked whether 301 redirects or 302 redirects are better for SEO all the time. This question often and it is an easy answer, once you know what you want to do with the old URL (Universal Resource Locator). If you’re changing a URL or deleting the page entirely, hopefully you know to redirect the old URL so your site doesn’t start returning 404 error pages for the old URL. If you didn’t know before this post, now you do know to absolutely use a redirect from the old one to a new working one. If you are not sure you’ll ever use that URL again, then you use a 302 with says the redirect is a temporary change. If you KNOW you will never use that URL again, you will use a 301 redirect, which says it is a permanent change to the search engines.
