Google is testing a new version of CC, an AI agent built to coordinate family schedules, permission slips, shopping lists and weekly meal plans. The agent now works across Gmail, Calendar, chats and tasks, and each household member decides what information to share with it.

CC started life as a personal productivity agent that read a user’s Gmail, Calendar, Drive and the open web to deliver a “Your Day Ahead” briefing by email. In May, the tool moved into the Gemini app as Daily Brief. Google said usage data showed people reaching for the feature to handle household management, from kids’ school schedules to sports practices, bills and meal plans. That signal pushed the company to reposition CC as a household agent rather than a single-user productivity tool.

What the family-focused version does

CC now gets its own Google account so it can collaborate with family members while holding a specific set of data permissions. Each person chooses what to forward to the agent: emails about school events, sports, clubs, birthday party invites, doctor appointments and similar items. Users can either forward individual messages or set up automatic sharing by tagging trusted senders such as schools, travel companies, clubs or sports teams. CC will also suggest senders to add on a weekly basis.

The current build supports up to six family members per household. Beyond email, CC tracks important dates and to-dos and adds them to a shared calendar or shared task list. The company gives concrete examples: when an orthodontist emails a confirmation for the next appointment, or a school announces a teacher workday, the event shows up on the family calendar automatically.

Tasks the agent can take on

  • Filling out permission slips and activity registration PDFs.
  • Building school supply shopping lists.
  • Planning weekly meals.
  • Figuring out drive times between activities.
  • Creating shared Docs or Sheets.

CC will ask for missing details when it needs them and updates its group memory to be more useful over time.

How it works under the hood and who can try it

Google says CC runs on its own isolated cloud computer, powered by Gemini and Google’s agent framework, Antigravity. The experiment is limited to U.S. users with a personal Gmail account who are 18 or older. Existing CC users will get an upgrade email in the coming days, while new users can sign up for a waitlist.

Where the limits show up

The 18-and-up rule is a notable gap because it keeps tweens and teens off the service unless they misrepresent their age on their Google accounts. Those same users also can’t connect with school-provided email accounts, even though many schools run on Chromebooks and Google apps and send a steady stream of school-related updates to student inboxes.

Why a household agent now

The move fits a wider pattern of AI startups targeting family and parenting use cases directly, including services like Ollie and Fambot. CC’s path is different: it grew out of a single-user productivity tool, and Google is reshaping it because user behavior pointed in that direction. For larger households, where parents coordinate with each other and with grandparents, caregivers, nannies or adult children still living at home, a single shared agent that reads forwarded email and owns a shared calendar has obvious appeal.
