What’s New in Claude Opus 4.7
Claude Opus 4.7 launched April 16, 2026, at the same price as Opus 4.6. Key upgrades:
- 1 million token context window, feed it entire site audits, competitor research, and campaign briefs without it “forgetting”
- High-resolution image support (2576px / 3.75MP), first Claude model that can actually analyze detailed screenshots, mockups, and design files
- New default in Claude Code with effort level set to
xhigh, the highest-quality reasoning mode for complex tasks - It keeps context across long sessions and recovers from errors without needing a restart.
- 128k max output tokens, write entire content packages in one shot
What are the 10 Claude Code tricks agencies need to know?
1. Auto Mode: stop babysitting every permission
Hit Shift+Tab to cycle through permission modes: default → acceptEdits → plan → auto. In Auto mode, a separate AI classifier reviews every action before it executes, blocking risky moves automatically. Give Claude a big task and let it run while you work on something else.
Best for: Long content generation runs, bulk SEO updates, automated reporting tasks.
2. /effort levels: match power to the task
Stop burning compute on simple tasks. Use the right effort level:
| Level | When to Use |
|---|---|
| low | Quick summaries, simple edits, fast rewrites |
| medium | Standard daily content work |
| high | Complex SEO analysis, nuanced strategy |
| xhigh (default on Opus 4.7) | Full audits, multi-step research, complex builds |
| max | Maximum reasoning, slowest, most thorough |
Type /effort high to dial back when you don’t need xhigh, saves cost and runs faster.
3. /ultrareview: five reviewers, one PR
Launches a fleet of parallel cloud agents to review code (or content) simultaneously, each checking a different angle: logic, edge cases, security, performance. Every finding is independently reproduced before being reported. If your agency builds client sites or runs automated SEO tools, this catches issues before they go live.
4. /btw: ask questions without polluting the context
Mid-task, need a quick answer? Type /btw [your question]. The answer appears in a dismissible overlay, it never enters conversation history. Result: dramatically lower token costs over a long session.
5. Hooks: guardrails that actually run
Hooks are shell scripts that fire at lifecycle events in Claude Code, not suggestions, guaranteed execution. Set them in .claude/settings.json:
- Auto-run a spell checker after every content file is written
- Enforce a review step before any publish action
- Log every AI action for client reporting
- Auto-format code after every edit
Claude can be turned from a responsive assistant into a rule-following system by using hooks. For agency work with several team members, hooks keep output consistent across the team.
6. Writer/Reviewer parallel sessions
Run two Claude sessions simultaneously: one Writer (creates the content or code), one Reviewer (fresh context, no attachment to the work). The Reviewer is unbiased, it didn’t write it and will catch what the Writer rationalized away. Use git worktrees for isolation so sessions don’t conflict.
Result: Higher quality output without additional human review time.
7. CLAUDE.md: your persistent agency brief
Create a CLAUDE.md file in your project root. It loads automatically on every session. Put your:
- Client brand voice and tone guidelines
- SEO rules (keyword targets, internal link strategy)
- Content structure requirements
- What NOT to do (common mistakes to avoid)
Keep it under 200 lines, adherence drops beyond that. Use subdirectory CLAUDE.md files for project-specific rules. Run /init to auto-generate a starter file.
8. /fork and /rewind: branch your work like code
/fork creates a branch of your current session. Try one approach, then /resume back to the fork point and try another. /rewind rolls back to any previous message, keeping code changes or keeping conversation history independently. All sessions are saved as JSONL files so nothing is ever truly lost.
9. /compact: free up context budget
On a long session, type /compact to condense history and reclaim context budget, without losing the thread. Use /context to see your current usage. For long content production runs, this keeps you from hitting limits mid-project.
10. Git worktrees for parallel agency work
Run claude --worktree to start a session in an isolated copy of your repo. Each agent gets its own working tree, no conflicts. Run 3-5 parallel agents: one writing blog posts, one doing technical SEO audits, one updating client reports. Color-code terminal tabs so you know which is which.
Bottom line for agencies
Claude Opus 4.7 plus the Claude Code feature stack is the closest thing to having a senior AI team member who doesn’t need hand-holding. The key shift: stop treating Claude as a chat tool and start treating it as an automated workflow platform.
The agencies that will win in 2026 are the ones using Auto Mode, parallel sessions, and hooks to run AI systems that operate without constant supervision, while they focus on strategy and client relationships.
Start with two things today: Turn on Auto Mode for your next long task (Shift+Tab × 3), and create a CLAUDE.md file with your agency’s core content rules.
