Twitter Changes the Update Button to "Tweet"

When Twitter users go to post a new tweet, they have in the past used a button that says “update” (at least from Twitter.com…that varies when you get into all the different apps Twitter users use). Now, that button says “Tweet”. We’re not sure exactly when the change was made, but it appears to have been very recently, as there is quite an outpour of Tweets from users mentioning that they are now seeing the “tweet” button. Perhaps this is Twitter way of asserting some kind of ownership of the word and the brand that it carries.

Twitter Location Features Rolling Out

Last fall, Twitter started including geolocation information in its API, but it was not available through Twitter.com. That appears to be in the process of changing now. This week, Twitter has been rolling out (it appears to still be in the process) geolocation info on tweets at Twitter.com. Various reports from users have been circulating, with those who have access to the feature pointing to a little blue icon by the tweet source on individual tweets, which when clicked, shows location information on a Map (powered by Google Maps).

Twitter’s Site Joins Location Craze and Burglars Celebrate!

I know that what I am about to say is not original but it really struck me that as Twitter announces that it is offering location based information on its site there is so little reported about the potential issues this may create. I think it struck me because the Twitter site is usually the last place where the cool ideas are implemented. Location based mobile apps for Twitter are nothing new and with the increasing popularity of foursquare and others this craze seems to have some serious legs. This is all the more evident if the Twitter site is climbing on board. Mashable reports on Twitter’s efforts with the following picture and quote which pretty much tells the story

FaceBook Advertising Policy Change Taking Effect Tomorrow

I think I am just going to have to accept the fact we are going to be remaking the Facebook Advertiser Guidelines video every week in the ShoeMoney System . Just got a email from my Facebook rep about a new policy change going in tomorrow on ads: Hey Jeremy, Our policy team just made a change that I don’t think will affect you at all, but I figured I should give you a heads up anyways. We’ve received significant negative feedback over the past few weeks about ads promoting free offers which, in reality, are not free to the user. As noted in section 8 of the Facebook Ad Guidelines, “Prices, discounts, and free offers: Ads cannot be deceptive or fraudulent about any offer made. If an ad includes a price, discount or ‘free’ offer the ad must clearly state what action or set of actions is required to qualify for the offer.” In addition, advertising is not permitted on Facebook where the business model or practice is deemed unacceptable. Some business models and practices that may violate this policy include unclear billing or participation practices.
